As per resolution 64/292, the United Nations General Assembly recognized the human right to water and sanitation. They acknowledged that clean drinking water and sanitation are essential to the realisation of all human rights. Nobody should be worried that their water will make them sick.

Systematic racism takes a part in this problem because if this were to occur in a mainly white city then the government official would not hesitate to make a change to protect the citizens and would quickly change the pipes that leach lead. This also shows the effects and realness of environmental racism because black cities are more likely to be polluted.

If the water source is too corrosive and not being treated properly, then the pipes start to corrode and let off lead.
